The Triangle Gets Walloped


We here in Southern Georgian Bay region are getting whacked by Old Man Winter.
It started snowing Friday morning, and as of late Monday evening, it's still snowing. That's 84 hours. Over 100 cm.

Snow squalls are a Great Lakes phenomenon. They occur when cold air masses from the arctic sweep down over the lakes. Areas to the east and south bear the brunt of the precipitation which is a result of the cold air passing over the still relatively warm lakes.
They can be quite localized. My father, who lives 45 minutes east of us, has had barely a dusting.
